Notarization is the process of verifying the identity of the signer and witnessing the signing of legal documents to prevent fraud and ensure that the document is authentic and legally binding.

A notary public is a certified professional who is authorized by the state to notarize documents. They are responsible for verifying the identity of the signer, ensuring the document is complete, and witnessing the signing of the document.

Notaries do notarize signatures by following a specific process. This process includes:

  • Examining the document for completeness
  • Checking the notarial certificate for compliance with state laws, if there is one preprinted.
  • Identifying the document signer
  • Confirming the signers' capacity to understand the document. Notaries can witness signatures even if they are not familiar with the language on the document, but they must be able to communicate with the signer.
  • Administering the Oath/Affirmation or taking the Acknowledgment.
  • Completing the Notarial Certificate by placing their signature, dating, and sealing the document.

To prepare for a notarization appointment, you should bring the original document that needs to be notarized, a valid government-issued photo ID, and any other required documents or witnesses as specified by your state's laws.

The validity of a notarized document varies by state and type of document.

Some documents, such as wills, have no expiration date, while other documents may have a specific validity period.

Witness requirements for notarization vary by state and type of document. Some documents may require one or more witnesses to be present during the signing and notarization process.

Identification requirements for notarization vary by state, but most states require a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license or passport.

The purpose of an Apostille is to eliminate the need for diplomatic or consular legalization of foreign public documents. Once completed, an Apostille certifies the authenticity of the signature, the capacity in which the person signing the document acted, and identifies the seal/stamp on the document. For more information please visit this link https://onspotmobilenotary.com/apostille

An apostille is a certification that is used to authenticate public documents for use in other countries. The types of documents that may require an apostille can vary depending on the country where they will be used, but some common examples include:

  •  Birth, death, and marriage certificates
  •  Academic diplomas and transcripts
  •  Power of attorney documents
  • Court orders and judgments
  • Corporate documents such as articles of incorporation and bylaws Notarized affidavits and declarations
  •  Police clearance certificates and criminal background checks

It's important to note that the apostille process only applies to public documents that have been issued by a government agency or official. Documents that are issued by private entities or individuals, such as employment contracts or letters of recommendation, generally do not require an apostille.

Additionally, it's important to verify with the receiving country's government or agency whether an apostille is required for the specific document you have in mind, as the requirements can vary by country and by document type. However, the notary public must complete the notarial certificate in English, including the notarial wording and the notary's signature and seal. If the notary public is not fluent in the language of the document, On Spot Mobil Notary -Mary Musa Notary Public can notary of Gujarati, Hindi and Urdu languages.

When seeking notarization for documents written in a foreign language, there are several important steps to take. Firstly, ensure that the signer's name on the document is accurately understood and matches their identification. Secondly, determine the specific notarial act required for the document, such as witnessing a signature or administering an oath, and ensure it aligns with the document's content. Additionally, verify the date on the document and check for any missing pages or incomplete sections that may affect its validity. If necessary, consider seeking professional translation services to ensure full comprehension of the document before proceeding with notarization. Finally, communicate clearly with the notary public about the nature of the document and any special considerations to ensure the process proceeds smoothly
